Letter Recognition – As your child learns sounds, they will also learn to recognize the letters of the alphabet. A great way to teach this is with a printable worksheet that shows the letter, a picture, and the ’name’ of the letter – like Annie Apple!
There are many types of writing worksheets. There is the cursive writing worksheets and the kindergarten worksheets. The latter is more on letter writing and number writing. This is typically given to kids of aged four to seven to first teach them how to write. Through these worksheets, they learn muscle control in their fingers and wrist by repeatedly following the strokes of writing each letter.
Schools use worksheet from printing to cursive writing of letters to writing of words. There are also online help to show the children how to exactly form a letter or word. After showing the students or children the way of writing, you can print the worksheets and give them practices on how to write exactly the right way. Children will be interested to do the activity because they had fun watching the software that you showed them.
Vocabulary Expansion – By incorporating colors to describe various items, your child expands their vocabulary too. Discovering new items of a certain color helps them learn new words to name the items, such as a red apple, a red fire truck, a red shirt and so forth.
Before creating the worksheet for children, it is important to understand why the worksheet is being made. Is there a message to be conveyed? Can students record information that can be understood later? Is it being created to just teach a basic concept to little children? A well designed worksheet will make its objective clear. The different aspects that should influence the design of the worksheet are the age, ability and motivation of the students.
Play sound games – A ’Sound Treasure Hunt’ will have your child gathering items around the house all starting with the same letter – and of course there has to be some ’treasure’ at the end of the game, so be prepared! ’I spy with my little eye’ is another great game if you use sounds instead of the names of letters, and it can be played anywhere.
