Using pictures – While your child is still learning to recognize the letters of the alphabet, you can use pictures (or the actual item) to help them practise their sounds. Find pictures of a bird, a ball, a bat, a bath, a book, and so forth to practice the letter ’b’. Choose a letter for the day and encourage your child to find items that start with that letter around the house. Printable worksheets should have nice exercises for this as well.
Remember that kids put more attention on animation. They are more interested on having fun so it is best for a teacher to teach them write letters in a fun way. Teachers may have noticed that when children are just being told on what to do, they may not do it right out of lack of interest.
There are many types of writing worksheets. There is the cursive writing worksheets and the kindergarten worksheets. The latter is more on letter writing and number writing. This is typically given to kids of aged four to seven to first teach them how to write. Through these worksheets, they learn muscle control in their fingers and wrist by repeatedly following the strokes of writing each letter.
Another key in writing worksheets is the amount of time a student will spend on it. If you prepare worksheets with several pages, they may end up bringing them at home and losing the interest to finish answering them. So be keen in preparing one at all times. When your child is first introduced to the letters of the alphabet, those letters are usually related to pictures of items that start with that letter. You will find ’Annie Apple’, ’David Dolphin’ and similar terms used throughout the world to introduce children to sounds and letters. Unless you’re artistic and can draw, printable worksheets may be an easier solution – and generally more affordable than a book.
Remember that with the so many worksheets available, choose one that is best suited for a certain lesson. Plan ahead what type of worksheet to use for a given day, depending on what you plan to teach. There are many free worksheets available, especially online, but still the best worksheet is one that you personally draft. This way, you are able to match the level of difficulty of the activity in accordance to the performance level of your own students.
Future Use of Color – Other than making sure your socks match, we use color in ways that we, as adults, are often not aware of. Obviously there are traffic lights that require us to know our colors, and road signs are differentiated by their color too. Reading a map, even on a GPS, relies on color recognition to identify certain features. Color also influences the way we behave, our moods, and how we react to other people.
